Many tire manufacturers make their products last three to five years, so you should replace the ones on your car around the same time. Furthermore, you should replace your tires once balding occurs; otherwise, they could lose grip or blow while driving and potentially get you into an accident. If you see these warning signs, you need to replace your tires. And remember to buy the correct tires to get the most out of your cash and car. Engines produce a lot of heat and friction, so lubrication is crucial to keep them running at their best. Even though your car’s engine, drivetrain, and cooling are closed systems, it could still lose fluids and oil as you use it. Furthermore, dirt and grime will build up in your car as you use it; thus, you must replace your oil often to help keep the engine clean.

Keep up with oil changes. When oil levels are low, or oil is old, added friction between moving parts can cause wear and tear to the engine. Follow your owner’s manual to determine the best intervals for changing oil. Check the brakes every time the oil is changed. Take care of your tires. Check and maintain proper tire pressure. Tires inflated within five pounds per square inch (PSI) of their recommended level improve gas mileage and general handling of your vehicle. Recommended PSI can be found in the owner’s manual. Rotate tires every 5,000 to 8,000 miles.

How Important Is Regular Tyre Pressure Checks? Why is maintaining the correct tyre pressure essential for safe, efficient driving? Underinflated tyres can decrease fuel efficiency, increase tyre wear and potentially lead to a blowout on the road. Overinflated tyres can also be dangerous, causing poor handling and even tyre blowouts. Regularly checking your car’s tyre pressure, as part of your vehicle service, is crucial for ensuring your safety on the road.

Ignore the myth of the 100,000-mile tune-up. “It doesn’t exist,” states Principe. “Each vehicle has a specific tune-up schedule recommended by the manufacturer. The more you keep the systems clean, the better the vehicle will run.” Variations in climate and driving style also dictate the necessity for maintenance. Commuting in dusty desert conditions will quickly clog air filters, while driving short distances repeatedly can wear out the exhaust system, as moisture is never completely evacuated. Extremely hot and cold conditions require more attention paid to radiator fluid and engine oil. See extra details on autorepairscore.com.

Car battery prices vary, and models fitted with stop-start systems need a heavier-duty battery that can cost much more than the standard type, depending on the size, type and the electrical current produced. There are dozens of combinations on offer, so make sure you get the correct one for your car. If you can’t start your car, but have access to a 12-volt power supply in another car, then you can use a set of jump leads. If you’re skilled enough and it’s accessible, you could remove the battery and charge it indoors. This can be complex, not least because car batteries are heavy. You should always refer to the owner’s manual.

Acquiring a traditional classic car entails the initial purchase of the vehicle itself. The financial outlay for procuring a classic car can span a broad spectrum, contingent upon a medley of variables. These factors include the car’s make, model, rarity, and its prevailing condition. Pristine classic gems from renowned manufacturers often command a premium, while more commonplace models in need of restoration may be acquired at a more budget-friendly price point.

Electric car charging times are also getting faster, while the charging infrastructure is improving all the time, making it easier to plan those longer trips that go beyond the range of your EV. See the latest electric car stats and projections for more info. 2021 saw some brilliant new electric cars appear on our roads, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and BMW i4. This year in 2022 we’ve seen the arrival of the Volkswagen ID.5 and ID.3 GTX, Volvo’s eagerly anticipated C40 and the Nissan Ariya. Looking a bit further ahead and there’s the Skoda Enyaq Coupe, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Toyota bZ4X. There’s also the hotly-anticipated Hyundai Ioniq 6, Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and the upcoming Polestar 3, plus many more electric models due to land in showrooms.

With all-wheel drive, the next step up is undeniably faster, lopping two seconds off its benchmark sprint time. But it also has a slightly shorter range, costs considerably more and doesn’t feel entirely comfortable to drive quickly. Every version features impressive ultra-rapid charging at up to 250kW, so if you can find a fast enough public charger, a top up from 10 to 80% is possible in less than 20 minutes. Its interior is no less desirable, thanks to a dashboard dominated by a pair of curved 12.3-inch screens for the instruments and infotainment setup. The Enyaq is an all-electric family car that is typically Skoda: that is to say it’s practical, well-equipped, comfortable and decent to drive. With top-spec models able to cover over 300 miles from a full charge, it soothes any range anxiety and just gets on with being an excellent family car – that just happens to run on battery power. Skoda has come up with an innovative way of helping you to personalise your new Enyaq; instead of standard trim levels it offers five individual ‘Design Selections’ – Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite and ECO Suite. Each provides a distinct design approach, with different materials used to create a certain style.

Before the Mercedes EQB arrived on the scene, the only seven-seater EV options around were some van-derived minibuses and the ultra-premium Tesla Model X. All versions of the EQB sold in the UK will come with three rows of seating as standard, with the rearmost seats providing enough room for children, and get ISOFIX points, too. Both the EQB 300 and EQB 350 which are available from launch also get a 66.5kWh battery for a range of over 250 miles, plus all-wheel-drive, with enough power in even the entry-level version to satisfy most people day-to-day and allowing for a smooth and relaxing driving experience. The EQB also gets the same great MBUX infotainment setup as the more expensive EQC.

The undeniably high-end Model S has been out for several years now, though. The longest-range models had a six-figure new price, but unlike contemporary Bentley, Jaguar and BMW saloons they have held their value well. Too well, in fact; last year they started from £25,000 secondhand, now, the cheapest are usually nearer £34,000. Tesla slashed the new price of certain models by up to £30,000 in early 2019, knocking residuals for a time but now the Model S represents terrible value for a secondhand car. Buy a nearly-new one, or wait for prices to settle. Tesla’s tendency to sell upgrades and offer over-the-air updates means that a 2015 Model S may be a very different car by 2022, but with no major changes to the design, and continued reliance on the Supercharger network for efficient charging, the experience of a used Tesla won’t be much different to the rarefied heights of a showroom-fresh example. Just don’t expect to get a full charge overnight from your household socket…

The BMW i4 demonstrates the brand’s commitment to both an electrified future and its rich heritage for delivering cars that are great to drive. Arguably, the best part about the i4 is the way it handles – despite weighing in at over two tonnes, it feels brilliant through the corners with precise steering feels and impressive agility. In fact, near silent progress aside, you’d struggle to tell the difference between it and a fossil-fuelled 4 Series Gran Coupe. The standard eDrive40 i4 produces 335bhp and 430Nm of torque, which should be plenty for everyday driving. Yet there’s also a 536bhp i4 M50 version, which is the first electric car to be produced by BMW’s performance-focused M Division. The 335bhp model is offered in both Sport and M Sport trim levels, both of which come with a healthy amount of kit. M Sport models get mostly cosmetic upgrades for an extra £1,500. Optional kit is rather expensive, however, and the i4 doesn’t offer quite as much value for money as its rivals.

In the world of automobiles, a captivating transformation is unfolding before our eyes—a melding of the future and the past like never before. In this engaging and informative journey, we’ll delve into the fascinating world of electric classic cars, explore the statistics that make them a compelling choice, and discover how they represent the perfect marriage of yesterday’s elegance and tomorrow’s technology.

Ask questions. Lots of them. Don’t be intimidated. Ask questions about why something needs fixing or how a technology works. As the customer, you have a right to become more educated about your vehicle. Request Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. Whenever parts need to be replaced, be sure to request genuine OEM components rather than generic pieces. Maintaining exact manufacturer specifications is important in achieving optimum performance. The low-price allure of aftermarket parts often prompts customers to forgo OEM quality, but spending the extra dollars on factory-approved equipment now can make a big difference down the road, especially in terms of vehicle longevity.

A test centre is not allowed to let you drive away a car that has failed an MOT until the problems are fixed, unless your existing MOT certificate is still valid, or you’re taking the car to have the faults fixed. Second, the test might take an hour or less, but, even if there aren’t any repairs, this does not mean your vehicle will only have to be at the garage for sixty minutes. Test centres can require you to drop your vehicle off first thing in the morning and collect it when ready. See additional info at http://carservice-centre.co.uk/.

The rubber and plastic components of the cooling system may get damaged from the overheated engine, So it’s better to check those as well, and get it fixed if needed.

You’ll pay upwards of £32,000 for a new Kia e-Niro (after the government grant) and, because the e-Niro ticks the boxes in so many ways, there aren’t many discounts to be had by looking towards the used market. That said, a pre-registered model can be picked up from around £30,000, and you can skip the waiting list by doing so. Still not convinced? Maybe a seven-year warranty will bring out your inner Nigel… The Renault Zoe has been a bit of a slow burner. It arrived way back in 2013, when electric cars were still very much the preserve of early adopters and ecomaniacs. The original had a small 22kWh battery, giving it a useable range of around 80 miles or so in the real world. If you only cover low miles and want an affordable electric car that won’t break the bank, the Renault Zoe is one of the best used electric cars out there. But the Zoe was given a significant update in late 2019, with a new 52kWh battery and 136PS motor providing an official range of 245 miles and making it much more useable in the process. Combine that with a thoroughly refreshed interior and improved driving experience, and it’s better than ever.

Pressure is growing on UK motorists to ditch their petrol and diesel-powered vehicles and switch to pure-electric cars, but which are the best electric cars available to buy now on the UK car market? The number of electric car sales on the UK’s roads continues to grow, as more new electric cars are launched and used prices start to drop. The selection of new electric cars facing consumers will continue as more manufacturers get on board with the technology in preparation for increasing emission regulation and upcoming bans on petrol and diesel cars. At the same time, the electric car-charging infrastructure in the UK is improving, making electric cars more viable for more people. The wider availability of fast and rapid chargers at homes and workplaces, as well as in public spaces, means it’s easier than ever to make the swap into a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and enjoy its lower running costs with relatively little inconvenience. Even if you can’t manage with a pure EV, today’s plug-in hybrids offer a good halfway house.

The Model Y is the small electric SUV many people have been waiting for. Based on the Model 3 saloon, the mid-size SUV boasts a spacious cabin, slick infotainment system and boatloads of practicality thanks to a 117-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet and a whopping 854 litres of boot space as well. Plus, performance is still staggering, thanks to dual-motor setups in both the Long Range and Performance models that are currently available. Prices start from nearly £55,000, but one of the major benefits of Tesla ownership is access to the brand’s extensive Supercharger network. Use one of its latest V3 Superchargers, and you can top up the Model Y’s battery from 0-80% in just 36 minutes.

The Model 3 was the electric car many had been waiting for. It’s a compact executive saloon rivalling the likes of the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series – a market with broad mainstream appeal – and it’s also one of the most convincing electric cars that money can buy. It combines minimalist style, space-age technology, grin-inducing performance, cutting-edge charging tech – supported by the expansive and dedicated Tesla Supercharger network – and, most importantly, a long driving range. The entry-level Standard Range Plus model claims up to 267 miles on a single charge, but it doesn’t sacrifice performance to achieve this. The electric motor drives the rear wheels and powers the car from 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds, while top speed is 140mph. The interior is nothing like what you’ll find in any BMW or Audi. The minimalist approach might not be to everyone’s taste but you can’t deny the wow factor. Spend a bit more, and the four-wheel-drive Long Range version has two electric motors and a larger battery for a range of 360 miles, with 0-60mph dropping to 4.2 seconds. Then there’s the Model 3 Performance, which scorches from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, but is still capable of 352 miles on a full battery.

Electric classic cars are known for their cost savings. With fewer moving parts than traditional gasoline engines, maintenance becomes more affordable and less frequent. Plus, electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline, offering long-term financial incentives for owners. Modern Comforts with Classic Charms – Who says you can’t have it all? Electric classic cars prove that you can. While preserving the vintage aesthetics and charm, these vehicles can be equipped with modern amenities that enhance the driving experience.

At present, the performance test standards of wheel hub mainly include: Japanese JWL VIA standard; German TUV standard; American SAE Standard. German TUV standards are the most stringent, which is why European wheel brands are heavy. The following European BBS 19X8.5J cast wheel hub weighs 11.65KG, compared with other cheap cast wheel 19X8.5J hub weight is 10.68kg. Attached is the hub weight reference table, if you buy a particularly light hub , pay attention. Change HUB SAFETY FIRST!!

Second, the hole distance, screw eye distance and eccentric distance must be suitable for the model. This means that when choosing, you can’t choose the shape you like at will, and you must follow the advice of the technician to consider whether the three distances are suitable. The third is the shape: the complex and dense wheel hub is indeed beautiful and classy, but it is easy to be refused or overcharged when washing the car, because it is too troublesome to wash. The simple wheels are dynamic and clean. Read more information on https://www.jjjwheel.com/.

It’s no secret that a good set of wheels can make or break your vehicle’s performance. As an integral part of the ride, they influence everything from acceleration to cornering and braking ability. That being said, if you’re looking for the best possible combination of quality and performance, you owe it to yourself to check out flow formed wheels; these are some of the most advanced manufacturing processes available on the market today and they bring with them a slew of advantages over traditional cast alloy wheels. In this article, we’ll dive into what makes flow-formed wheels so great, and why you should consider investing in a set for your favorite car!

The two piece wheel consists of two parts: the rim (Barrel), and the wheel width. It is possible to combine different rim widths and thicknesses on one hub, or to combine widths and offsets for more options. And the two spokes are interchangeable, so that when repairing and replacing, it is not necessary to replace the whole hub, but only the part, which is finally fastened with high-strength bolts. This is the most primitive processing method for aluminum alloy wheels, which can be formed by pouring high-temperature liquid metal into the mold and cooling it. This method is efficient and low cost, but the uniformity of each part of the manufactured wheel is poor, and the molecular density is relatively low, resulting in low strength, so it is not very suitable for high-strength use of passenger vehicles.

Fuel vehicle: If you use fully synthetic engine oil, a small maintenance every 10,000 kilometers, a single cost of 600 dollar, then 100,000 kilometers need to be maintained 10 times, the total cost is 6,000 dollar, a major maintenance every 30,000 kilometers, a major maintenance Counting 1,000, 100,000 kilometers of maintenance 3 times, the cost is 3,000, so calculated, the total maintenance cost of 100,000 kilometers is 9,000 dollar.

Low-pressure casting: It is more advanced compared to gravity casting. Although it is also formed by pouring high-temperature liquid metal into the mold and cooling it, the metal molecular density will be higher with the help of constant pressure and the wheel will have higher strength after forming because of the use of low-pressure nitrogen propulsion to accelerate the filling of the mold. The whole process is mechanized, so the level of craftsmanship is stable. This process is usually used for most of the original matching wheels for vehicles today.Jiangjin Wheel is a professional aluminum alloy wheels suppliers, specialized in low pressure casting wheels.

Flow formed wheel manufacturing process first requires processing the blank with low-pressure casting, then heating the wheel blank, while gradually extruding the final form by rotating the press through the machine. Under the appropriate temperature and pressure of the press, the metal molecules are more dense and fibrous, which can bring higher strength and toughness than low-pressure casting, and the rim after spinning has a thinner cut, so the overall weight of the wheel is reduced. Welcome to inquire about wholesale flow formed wheel price, JWHEEL is the best choice of forged wheels manufacturers.

If the price of the car is not much different from that of the fuel car, you can choose it, but from the perspective of the current market models, the general car price is more than 20,000 higher than the fuel car of the same level. If you consider the economic cost, it is not recommended to choose a fuel-electric hybrid verb: move. Plug-in hybrid models, the battery life is generally less than 100 kilometers, and the fuel is used when the battery life is exhausted. The price of the car is also much higher than that of the same-level fuel car, but like pure electric vehicles, you can enjoy the green card treatment, only Considering the economic cost, it is also recommended that the higher car price is far more than the extra money for fuel.

One piece forged wheels,Milling and forging,The use of impact or pressure to deform the metal between the upper and lower two against the iron (anvil) to obtain the required block of blanks, blanks after heat treatment and then through the machining center milling and forming, a piece of relatively lighter weight, can achieve the most lightweight dynamic balance better reliability, no hidden gas leakage. The main advantages of steel hubs are simple manufacturing process, relatively low cost and strong resistance to metal fatigue. But the disadvantages are also obvious, such as heavy weight, large inertial resistance, poor heat dissipation and so on.

One is size: don’t blindly increase the hub. Some people increase the wheel hub to improve the performance of the car. Under the condition that the outer diameter of the tire remains unchanged, the large wheel hub is bound to match the wide and flat tire. The lateral swing of the car is small, and the stability is improved. pass by. However, the flatter the tire, the thinner the thickness, the worse the shock absorption performance, and the greater the sacrifice in terms of comfort. In addition, the tires are easily damaged if there are some roadblocks such as stones. Therefore, the cost of blindly increasing the hub cannot be ignored. Generally speaking, it is most appropriate to increase one or two sizes according to the size of the original wheel hub.

Misunderstanding : do not use the center ring (diameter ring) hub is a good hub. The center ring is called Hub-ring. there are mainly ABS and aluminum alloy. Here is a popular science about the origin and role of the center ring (reducer ring) : Why use the central sheath ring (reducer ring)? Due to the same hole distance (PCD) of different models of the center hole data is not the same, in order to save inventory, the majority of modified hub manufacturers will make the hub center hole data larger, to meet the needs of different models. When the hub center hole is larger than the shaft head, there will be a gap between the shaft head and the hub center hole. At this time, it is necessary to fill the gap between the center ring, to help the hub and the vehicle axle head closely. Discover additional info on https://www.jjjwheel.com/.

A Delicate Restoration – Before the magic of electrification can begin, classic cars undergo meticulous restoration. Every detail from gleam of the paintwork to the authenticity of upholstery, is lovingly preserved to honor the car’s historical significance. It’s a process that pays homage to the craftsmanship of yesteryears. The Heart of Change – The real transformation happens beneath the surface. The gasoline engine with its roars of yesteryear, makes way for a sophisticated electric motor. These powertrains deliver instant torque whisper-quiet operation, and efficient power delivery all while maintaining classic car’s iconic appearance.

Imagine having air conditioning, power steering, advanced sound systems, and even smartphone connectivity in your classic car. These modern comforts coexist harmoniously with the car’s nostalgic allure, making your journey not only stylish but also supremely comfortable. The Quiet Elegance of Silence – They say “silence is golden,” and electric classic cars have taken this saying to heart. The characteristic roar of a gasoline engine has been replaced by the serene hum of an electric motor. This transformation offers a quieter and more refined driving experience, allowing you to savor every moment in peaceful elegance.

Electric classic cars present distinct advantages in the realm of operating costs. They benefit from the innate efficiency of electric powertrains, translating into lower energy expenses when juxtaposed with their gasoline counterparts. Electric motors boast a reduced number of moving parts, culminating in less frequent and less costly maintenance. Furthermore, electric classics yield zero tailpipe emissions, potentially rendering them eligible for incentives, tax credits, or exemptions from certain fees, contingent upon local regulations.

Hyundai, along with its sister brand Kia, has lead the pack when it comes to affordable electric cars with long ranges. The Kona Electric, for example, came along in 2018 with almost double the range of its electric small SUV rivals. But now it’s the Ioniq 5’s turn to set the standard. Although it’s shaped like a big hatchback, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is larger than you might expect and similar in size to the Skoda Enyaq. A key part of the Hyundai’s appeal is its styling, with a funky blend of futuristic and retro details to make it really stand out. While the inside isn’t as dazzling on the eye as the outside, it is a very nice place to sit with a spacious, airy feel, great technology and clever features including (on Ultimate models) a sliding centre console and ‘vehicle to load capability’ which lets you power anything from a domestic socket via the car itself.

Starting at just under £37,000, the Ioniq 5 features a superb infotainment system and generous standard kit, while the available space has to be seen to be believed. It’s comfortable, too, so you’ll relish the chance of racking up the miles. We certainly did, which is why we named the Hyundai Ioniq 5 our Car of the Year for 2021. The Kia EV6 is the sister vehicle to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, so it’s a great pick if you love that model’s technology, but aren’t quite as sold on its retro-futuristic looks. The EV6 is arguably the more conventional of the two, and it’s a bit lower and more sporting. This is reflected in its handling, with slightly firmer suspension offering sharper responses. It’s offered in Long Range RWD, Long Range AWD and a high-performance GT version, and the entry-level version is our favourite. It not only offers the best range figure of up to 328 miles from its 77.4kWh battery, but we also found its 7.2-second 0-62mph time to be quick enough.

The iX is the premium German brand’s flagship electric SUV, and the largest model in its rapidly expanding i range of zero-emissions models. Thanks to the dual-motor setups in all three versions that have been announced so far, which means you get all-wheel-drive and impressive performance. It’s also great to drive for a car of this size, and can cover up to 380 miles on a full charge. The centrepiece of the iX’s cabin is the slim instrument panel, which incorporates a 14.9-inch curved display screen and 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and both displays are crisp and responsive to use. Inside, the iX overall feels light and airy, plus there’s room for adults in the back and a 500-litre boot.

The running costs of an electric car remain considerably lower than traditional fuels, and like the environmental benefits, the positive effects are most apparent when the car is a convenience for short trips, shops and school runs, rather than long-distance transport – exactly the kind of car use that is prevalent in Britain and the worst for the environment. Mainstream electric cars have been on sale in the UK since the introduction of the Nissan Leaf in 2010; earlier models may suit London or other cities, but are rarely something that the average driver would want to use every day. Sales began to really pick up after 2019, where the diversity of models coincides with targeted incentives, particularly around company car taxation. With values of conventional used cars remaining high and likely to drop when new supplies return to normal, there’s never been a better time to consider a second hand electric car.

The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s first all-electric SUV, and is one of the most important cars for the blue oval in a generation. Starting from around £43,000, the Mach-E is a practical and well-priced EV that offers great handling and a generous list of standard kit. It doesn’t compromise on pace, either, with the fastest 346bhp all-wheel-drive version capable of 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds. The model range consists of 68kWh ‘Standard Range’ battery variants with either rear- or four-wheel-drive. The former offers up to 273 miles of range and the latter 243 miles. Move up to the 88kWh ‘Extended Range’ cars and you’ll benefit from more miles on a single charge – a claimed 379 miles for the RWD model and 335 miles for the AWD First Edition SUV. The Mustang Mach-E is nothing like its iconic sports car namesake, but it’s a well-crafted electric SUV that still offers a breadth of skills. And, if you’re after more pace, the 480bhp Mach-E GT performance model is even faster, and boasts ‘MagneRide’ adaptive suspension.

These cars preserve the visual splendor of their classic predecessors while bidding farewell to traditional gasoline engines. They’re equipped with sophisticated electric powertrains that deliver on performance, efficiency, and sustainability. It’s the classic car experience you love, now with a modern twist. Why electric classic cars? Environmental Responsibility in Style – Let’s be honest; traditional classic cars weren’t always known for their eco-friendly credentials. The iconic V8 engines of yesteryear were synonymous with burning fossil fuels and contributing to air pollution. But electric classic cars have rewritten this narrative.

Most car owners underestimate how important car battery maintenance is. Although your battery will run out of juice eventually, keeping up with it will extend the life. If you want your car battery to run smoothly, you need to make sure it has a good connection. Residue can build up and prevent your tire from starting. You can get battery-cleaning fluid at most auto parts stores. Removing the battery and cleaning the connections will extend the life and improve the connection.

Yes, it’s your car’s bible! Knowing where to find information quickly can help in identifying causes when trouble arises. You may even be able to avoid a trip to the auto mechanic in the first place if you discover that your “problem” stemmed from not understanding your car’s controls. Beyond knowing the make and model of your vehicle, it also helps to have the specific trim level on hand for the service technician, as that often identifies the engine size and configuration, transmission and other included features that vary across the model line. Be aware of your exterior paint and interior color codes in case body or upholstery repair is necessary. Keep your vehicle identification number (VIN) available, as this code will likely be required when scheduling service.

As well as using the correct lettering style and spacing, your number plates need to be clean and easy to read from a distance. Modified number plates, damaged number plates or otherwise illegal plates will fail the MoT. If you own a diesel car fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), it could be given a Major defect and automatically fail the MoT test if it emits “visible smoke of any colour” during metered checks. Testers will also inspect DPFs closely for signs of removal or tampering, awarding a Major defect and failing the car if foul play is detected. Testers must refuse to test any car where the “DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded” unless the owner “can show evidence that there was a valid reason to cut it open, such as for filter cleaning.”

Many people don’t realize that your battery’s health is not only affected by winter, but by summer too. Heat can cause malfunction of the battery or its failure to operate properly. So watch out for telltale signs of your battery’s declining health over the summer months. This may include : Slower cranking of the engine than usual while starting the car; Dimmed headlights or internal lights; The “check battery” light on the dashboard is lit up. You should make sure the battery is in tip-top condition so as not to be surprised by a sudden and unwanted breakdown.

If you frequently drive in winter, then consider buying a set of winter tyres. They offer exceptional grip when the temperature drops below seven degrees, and while they’re effective in snow and ice, they also perform better than summer tyres when it’s wet. They’re not cheap, but are well worth the investment for the additional safety they bring. It’s up to you whether you buy a second set of wheels to fit them on, but if you choose to swap the winter tyres onto the same wheels, it’s a job for a tyre fitter, as it’s a pretty tough job to do yourself. Even if you don’t want the extra cost of winter tyres, checking the tread depth of your existing tyres is important. The legal limit is 1.6mm, but having more than this can dramatically improve steering and braking. Indeed, if your tyres require replacement, then winter is a good time to do it. Also, check your tyre pressures regularly, because these can change with the drop in air temperature with the changing of the seasons.

Inquire about pricing and labor rates. Before you surrender your keys to the service department, be sure to determine the labor rate. Shops typically post the rate in a conspicuous place, so be observant and ask questions if you’re confused. Make sure you understand the way in which you will be billed for an auto repair. Many shops bill according to estimated repair times established by the manufacturer. A repair that the service tech deems “minor” could indeed be an all-day job according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Local auto service in Reading close to me: First, if your vehicle fails the test and repairs need to be made this will take longer. See more info at http://carservice-centre.co.uk/.

Three years after a car is first registered here in the UK, it is subject to an MoT test to ensure it is still safe to drive on the road. This isn’t a negotiable thing, it is required by law and following the first MoT, the test must be carried out once a year. MoT itself stands for ‘Ministry of Transport’, which was a Government department originally formed in the 1960s. Since then, the Ministry has seen various names, but is known today as the Department for Transport or DfT. That being said, the actual regulation of the tests is carried out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which is also part of the DfT.

The brake system of your car is one of the most important, which is why you need to pay attention to the brake pads. Most owner’s manuals recommend you change the pads every 20,000 miles. However, if you drive your car every day, and have to brake more often, you might have to replace them more often. People who live in the city and have to deal with a lot of traffic and stop more often should consider changing the pads more often. Replacing the brake pads is a fast and relatively inexpensive process.

Keep your records in order, and take them with you. Have records available on everything you do to maintain your car — and keep them in the car if possible. Well-kept records can be instrumental in correctly diagnosing a vehicle problem the first time. Incomplete records can lead to redundant auto repairs that waste your time and money. A vehicle with a well-documented repair service history also tells your mechanic that you value first-rate work at the recommended intervals, and have done your part to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape.

It’s next to impossible traveling with a broken air conditioning system in your car in the London heat. It can lead to health issues on days with high temperature and humidity. Therefore, you should proactively schedule a maintenance for your car’s air conditioning system. If that isn’t feasible, the least you should do is conduct a self-inspection of the air conditioning system and consult an expert if something appears to be wrong that can’t be fixed by you.

Winter weather is frequently wet, and this draws all the dirt and road salt from the road surface, so you’ll spend lots of time using your windscreen wipers. Assuming your wipers are in good shape, there’s still a high risk of them smearing grime across the windscreen if your screen wash bottle is empty. To ensure this doesn’t happen to you, open the windscreen washer bottle under the bonnet, and make sure that it is topped up. You can buy screenwash either ready-mixed or as a concentrate, which you’ll need to mix with water.
