There was a ton of hype surrounding Call of Duty Mobile throughout the beta and ahead of it’s global launch, and to the credit of Activision and TiMi Studios (a subsidiary of Tencent Games) the game is phenomenal and has quickly become one of the best and most popular mobile games to be released in 2019. The only way CoD Mobile would work is if it felt like an authentic experience for CoD fans, and that’s exactly what you get. While the Call of Duty franchise has featured some really awesome single-player campaigns, CoD Mobile focuses exclusively on multiplayer and manages to hit it out of the park by delivering the exact style of action fans have come to know and love.

Perhaps the major benefit is that phone game apps are cheaper to develop and have a higher chance at being used by people all over the world. The audience is broader and appeals to a bigger range of people. Some of these individuals might not even consider themselves to be gamers because “gamers” have a certain stigma associated. A “gamer” is one who plays a game on a console or PC, not smartphone. Nowadays, anyone can simply open a gaming app on their phone and begin to indulge in the world of gaming. You can start to see why large companies who dominate console and pc gaming are transfering their games to smartphone apps. Call of Duty Mobile from Activision and Mario Kart Tour from Nintendo are just a few notable mentions. Discover more info on Merge Magic Guide.

A few years back words like “roguelike” or “Metroidvania” would send me into a frothy frenzy. But to be honest games that trade on the elements of those descriptors have released in abundance in recent years, and the quality varies widely from game to game. So when people were buzzing over a new roguelike Metroidvania called Dead Cells that released on consoles and PC in 2018, I didn’t exactly go out of my way to check it out. I figured it was “just another one of those” games. Boy am I an idiot. Dead Cells is everything it’s cracked up to be and more, with truly skill-based gameplay and a nearly endless supply of items and abilities that change up the way you play each time. It’s easy to see why this is such a critical hit on other platforms, but what’s truly impressive is how with just a few tweaks the folks at Playdigious have brought a version of Dead Cells to iOS that plays phenomenally on the touchscreen, and actually fits into the bite-sized nature of mobile perfectly.

The start of the game is mostly on the walkthrough. You will be guided on its basic gameplay, which is good as you would immediately have an idea on what to do instead of just finding out on your own. The latter may not be convenient since there are various options and items on the screen. While you will only have a piece of green land and a few items at the beginning of the game, you will start to see it improve as you match three of the same objects that you see. It’s somewhat like the typical match 3 puzzle games but it has a unique flavor to it. You can drag the objects in any place that you wish to and there are various objects that you will see on the screen. It’s more challenging to match the same objects and put them next to each other once you already have several objects.
